FC Richmond would like to thank everyone for their warm thoughts and notes concerning the passing of John Le Lay. John was an amazing person and huge part of the FC Richmond family. As a club, we have discussed several possible ways to honor John’s legacy through FC Richmond. We have decided on two ideas that we plan to set up to make sure John is remembered for many years to come.
1) John Le Lay Memorial Fund – The John Le Lay Memorial Fund will be set up to honor the life and legacy of John Le Lay. Each year, the FC Richmond Board of Directors, along with the Le Lay family, will make a decision on how to use the money raised though the fund to best represent John. There are many things that John was passionate about and the goal of this fund will be to ensure those projects are supported.
If you would like to donate to the John Le Lay Memorial Fund, you may do so in the following ways….
A) Checks/Money Orders/Cash Donations – Any of these donations can be mailed to the following address… FC Richmond c/o John Le Lay Memorial Fund

B) Credit Card Donations -- For the Spring 2011 Recreation and PDP Online Registration Pages, there will be a section to allow for credit card donations to the John Le Lay Memorial Fund. The same system will be set up for the 2011-2012 Magic, Mystx, and Metro online registration systems. This will allow you to make donations to the fund using your credit card.
2) John Le Lay PDP World Cup – John started the “World Cup” for the U8 & U9 PDP program several years ago. It was truly one of his favorite events on the soccer calendar. Beginning with the Spring 2011 PDP World Cup, we will rename the event the John Le Lay World Cup. Details of the specifics to this event and how we will honor John through the day’s festivities will be given out as we get closer to the spring.
Thank you again to everyone who sent in notes and well wishes. It showed how much John meant to so many people throughout the FC Richmond family. We are confident that the John Le Lay Memorial Fund and the John Le Lay PDP World Cup will keep the memory of John Le Lay alive in our program for many years to come.

It comes with a heavy heart and great sadness to 
announce the passing of John Le Lay after a long battle with cancer.
John has been a member of the FC Richmond family for twenty-five years and contributed to the lives of so many youth soccer players in the Richmond area. John’s love and passion for the game of soccer will surely be missed. It is that same love and passion that 
will live on in the players that had the pleasure of being coached by John. During his time with FC Richmond, John served as a Magic coach, Mystx coach, Metro coach, and most recently the U8 PDP Coach. John was a beloved man throughout the FC Richmond community. Every player that was coached by Coach Le Lay, immediately became a better player and a better person.
John lended his voice to the recent FC Richmond radio ad...just one of the many contributions John made to the club over the last 25 years.
