LUIS RENDON NAMED WINTER INTERREGIONAL ALL-STAR!
Luis Rendon, a member of the FC Richmond Magic '91, recently competed with the Region I ODP team at the Winter Interregional at the Disney Wide World of Sports. The team competed in the SuperGroup of the Disney Showcase held December 27-30. Due to his stellar play throughout the tournament, Luis was named to the 1993 age group 18-man All-Star Team. Luis tallied 4 of his team's 7 goals during the tournament, scoring one in each game. Three of his goals were game winners and one goal tied up the game. DERRICK ETIENNE NAMED to USL-2 TOP 15 of THE DECADE!!
Former FC Richmond Magic player, Derrick Etienne, was named to the list of the USL-2's Top 15 Players of the Decade. The players on the list were selected based on their influence to the league and playing accomplishments. To view the complete list and details of the team, click here. Etienne was recognized for his accomplishments with Long Island Roughriders. Derrick, along with his twin brother Darrell, were members of the FC Richmond Magic throughout their youth. They were also members of the Haitian National Team. Derrick's older brother, Mike, currently coaches the FC Richmond Magic '94 team. Congratulations to Derrick on this wonderful achievement!

Former FC Richmond Magic Player Receives Post-Season Awards
A former member of the FC Richmond Magic program, and current senior at Hampden-Sydney College, Brett Chonko was recently named to the NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region Team. Chonko, a defender on the Tigers' squad, was a pivotal figure in HSC's impressive season. Along with his All-South award, Chonko was named an Academic All-American, First Team Academic All-District, Second Team All-ODAC, and an East All-Region Scholar. Chonko, an English Major, will graduate from Hampden-Sydney this spring. He currently carries a 3.82 GPA. For more on Chonko, and the HSC program, click here.
Rendon Excels During ODP Super Group Tournament!
Luis Rendon, a member of the FC Richmond Magic '91, recently  participated in the ODP Super Group at the Disney Soccer Showcase. The Super Group was composed of the 4 ODP Region teams from across the country. Luis, a member of the Region 1 squad, helped lead the team to the tournament championship, finishing with a record of 3 wins and 1 tie. Rendon scored a goal in all four tournament games, totally 4 of the teams' 7 goals. Region 1 defeated Region 4 by a score of 4-1 in the finals. Many college coaches were in attendance, as well as, Youth National Team coaches. Congratulations to Luis on a great weekend of soccer. FC Richmond is very proud of his accomplishments.

FC Richmond Metro Player Heading to Sweden for Gothia Cup
Natacha Rangel-Ribeiro, a member of the U12 Girls Metro team, has been selected to be a part of the US Youth Team that will compete in the Gothia Cup in Sweden during the summer of 2010. The team, put together by 365 Sports, will train during the spring season and compete in the very prestigious Gothia Cup in Sweden. Congratulations to Natacha on her acceptance to the team and participation in the tournament.
FC Richmond Players Selected to VCCL Select Teams!!
Every year, the Virginia Club Champions League (VCCL) selects a U14 Boys and Girls Select Team to train together and participate in the Dallas Cup Tournament (boys) and Clearwater Easter International Tournament (girls). This year, the VCCL decided to add a U15 Boys Select Team to participate in the Dallas Cup Tournament. The teams are made up of participating VCCL clubs and players are selected based on their performance throughout the VCCL Season. FC Richmond is proud to announce the following players that have been selected to these teams.

FC Richmond Players part of ODP Program!
FC Richmond wants to congratulate all of our players that participated in the ODP Central District Program during the Fall 2009 season. The players participated in practices throughout the season and upon the conclusion of their trainings, competed in Interdistrict Scrimmages. These scrimmages, along with the seasonal practices, would be the basis for the selection of the VYSA State Team Player Pools. FC Richmond to offer "F" License Coaching Course!
FC Richmond, in conjuction with VYSA, is happy to announce the offering of the "F" License Coaching Course for the U5-U10 Age Groups. The course, being taught by Paul Shaw, will take place February 12th and February 13th at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds. FC Richmond Magic '97 Play Well in Florida!
Every fall, the FC Richmond U12 boys team heads to Florida for Thanksgiving to compete in the Clearwater Chargers Thanksgiving Challenge. This year, the Magic '97 (pictured right) had their opportunity to head to Florida over the break. The boys did not disappoint as they made it to the finals of the tournament. Unfortunately, they came out on the short end of a 3-1 decision, but that did not diminish the great week the boys had in Clearwater. The boys finished the preliminary stages of the tournament outscoring their opponents 10-2. It was great trip for all players and coaches involved. Congrats to the team on a great tournament and trip!
Stannard Continues in Quest for NCAA Title!
 Former FC Richmond Mystx player, Kristin Stannard, helped her Stanford Cardinal defeat Boston College over the weekend 3-1. With the win, Stanford advances to the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament and will play UCLA in the NCAA College Cup Semifinal. That game will be played Friday, December 4, and will be televised on ESPN2 at 5:30 PM EDT.
Stannard was also recently named to Honorable Mention All-Academic Pac-10 Team. For selection to this team, a player must have a 3.0 GPA and be either a starter or significant contributor. For more information on the Stanford program, click here.
FC Richmond Mystx '94 Get to Finals of CASL Girls Showcase! 
Congratulations to the Mystx '94 (U15 Girls) for their impressive run in this past weekend's CASL Girls College Showcase. The girls, after a 2-1 record, found their way into the finals of the tournament. Unfortunately, they come up on the wrong end of a Penalty Shootout against the North Mecklenburg Red out of North Carolina. Congratulations to the team (pictured right) on a very good weekend.
Former Mystx Player in NCAA Tournament!

Juggle-a-Thon...Huge Success!
The 2009 juggle-a-thon was a huge success for FC Richmond. Thank you to all the players that received pledges and participated in the fundraiser. A final total of money raised will be announced later in the week, as we are still receiving pledges and donations. 2 VCCL League Champions for FC Richmond!!!
Though some of the decisions in the Fall 2009 VCCL season still have some games to be played, 2 FC Richmond teams have secured 1st place in their respectivce league. The FC Richmond Magic '91 (U18/19 Boys) and the FC Richmond Magic '95 (U14 Boys) both ended their Fall campaigns in 1st place! The Magic '91 finished off the season undefeated and comfortably won their division. The Magic '95, finishing with 6 wins and 1 tie, comfortably won their division as well, finishing 5 points ahead of the nearest competitor. It was very good season for all FC Richmond teams in the VCCL. Congratulations to those teams and the Magic '95 and Magic '91 on a great Fall season.
Big State Cup Weekend for FC Richmond...again!!!!
The VYSA Fall State Cup is winding down and two FC Richmond teams remain in their respective brackets. The FC Richmond Magic '91 (U18 Boys) and FC Richmond Mystx '91 (U18 Girls) will play their Quarterfinal games this weekend, here in Richmond. Both teams were scheduled to play this past weekend, but mother nature prevented that from happening. Both games have been scheduled for Saturday, October 31st at West Creek Park #5. The U18 Mystx will take on Vista Shockwave at 1:00 PM. Immediately following their game, the U18 Magic will take on the defending State Cup champions, Great Falls Elite at 3:00 PM. Both teams will be looking to move on to the State Semi-Finals which will take place at a site, still to be determined. Good luck to both teams. FC Richmond is proud of you.
FC Richmond Teams Play Well in Virginia Beach!
Over Columbus Day Weekend (October 10-11), FC Richmond took their annual journey down to Virginia Beach to compete in the Beach FC Columbus Day Tournament. All Magic and Mystx teams competed in the tournament and several came home as Champions, Finalists, or in the case of the U18/19 teams, came away undefeated for the event.

Great Day in VYSA State Cup!!!
It was a day of State Cup games for many of the older FC Richmond teams. The winning began in the morning with the FC Richmond Magic '91 (U18 boys) defeating the VA Legacy and advancining to the State Quarterfinals. Following that game, the FC Richmond Mystx '91 (U18 Girls) took the field and also advanced to the State Quarterfinals, by way of a penalty kick shootout. Meanwhile, up in Northern Virginia, the FC Richmond Magic '94 (U15 boys) advanced to the Round of 16 with a quality win over the SYA Alliance. At the same time, the FC Richmond Magic '92 (U17 Boys) advanced to the State Quarterfinals, also by way of a penalty shootout. Congratulations to all four teams on their wins and best of luck in the next round of the VYSA State Cup.
FC Richmond Helping with Special Olympics.
Over the past few weeks, many FC Richmond teams have given up their Saturday afternoons to volunteer with the Special Olympics of Chesterfield County. The group of athletes are currently playing soccer at Providence Middle School on Saturday afternoons. This past Saturday (9/26), the group held a day long tournament. Helping over the past few weekends have been the U12 Magic and U12 Mystx, as well as, the U16 Magic, U18 Magic, and U18 Mystx. More FC Richmodn teams will continue to volunteer their time in the coming weeks. Pictures of these practices and tournament will soon follow.

Richmond Cup Tournament...Off and Running!!!!!!!! 
FC Richmond's annual Labor Day Tournament, the Richmond Cup, is off and running over this beautiful Labor Day Weekend. With games being played across the Southside area of Richmond, the action will be great all weekend. The highlight of the weekend is the VW Site located at Providence Middle and the VW Junior Masters Qualifying Tournament for the top U12 Boys Division. For more pictures of the VW Site, click here. FC Richmond Scholarship Awards Recognize those Payers who Have Participated in and Made Contributions to FC Richmond's Soccer Programs.
Scholarships are awarded to those individuals who exhibit academic excellence, leadership skills, community involvement and a commitment to soccer. FC Richmond annually awards scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing a college education: $1,000 scholarships and $500 scholarships are awarded to players that are selected by the FC Richmond Scholarship Committee. This years FC Richmond College Scholarships are awarded to the following players.

Exciting News Regarding FC Richmond Richmond Cup 2009!!!
In a joint effort with Volkswagen and MLS, FC Richmond is excited to announce that the 2009 Richmond Cup (Labor Day) Tournament will be a U12 Boys Qualifying event for the Volkswagen Junior Masters. The winner of the top U12 Boys Division will head to Washington D.C. in October to compete against other U.S. regional qualifiers in an effort to make it to South Africa and the Volkswagen Junior Masters.
