The different levels of soccer within FC Richmond

FC Richmond is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization.  All fees, contributions, and funds raised or collected by the club at all levels are used to develop, promote, and enhance youth soccer in Richmond, Virginia and surrounding areas.

Formed in 1985, the FC Richmond brand remains distinguished among other soccer organizations in both player development and character building through love of the game.
The entire club is divided into three separate levels of play:

RECREATIONAL SOCCER (U4-U19)

FC Richmond's recreational soccer program provides a "grassroots" entry level opportunity for players to enjoy the beautiful game in a non-results oriented format and serves as the foundation for its other components. Age specific teams are formed in the fall and spring with volunteer coaches assigned to each team. There are no fixtures or standings and players should participate in at least 50% of the game.

U9 AND U10 MAGIC AND MYSTX FUTURES

FC Richmond's U9 & U10 Magic and Mystx Futures program is an introductory program designed to introduce and transition players to competitive soccer. U9 & U10 Magic and Mystx Futures players will compete in the Advanced Development Soccer League (ADSL), a local league featuring Richmond based clubs. Training is specialized with a focus on agility soccer movements, ball mastery techniques, team building fundamentals and a variety of small sided games in a FUN, energetic environment.  Players will be selected from a tryout process in April/May for the 2021-2022 soccer year that begins in August. U9 Magic and Mystx Futures teams and U10 Magic and Mystx Futures teams will be formed from these tryouts.

MAGIC AND MYSTX ELITE AND CLASSIC (U11-U19)

The Travel program is comprised of FC Richmond’s most advanced youth soccer players.
  • Magic Elite/Classic (boys) U11 - U19
  • Mystx Elite/Classic (girls) U11 - U19
Teams are formed from the most talented, dedicated and competitive players from Richmond and surrounding areas. There is a high priority placed on learning and development, where player work ethic must be second-to-none.  Players learn the values of discipline, commitment, and accountability.
Together, these programs form the FC Richmond Player Progression Model.
