Travel Soccer Program Descriptions


MAGIC (BOYS) AND MYSTX (GIRLS) ELITE NAVY AND SKY

FC Richmond’s Elite teams train and compete at the highest level. Teams are formed from tryouts in March/April/May for the 2025-2026 soccer year that begins in August. At the elite level, a high priority is placed on technical proficiency, tactical awareness, and personal development.  Players learn the values of discipline, commitment, and accountability.

Depending on quality and number of players at tryouts, there could be more than one Elite team formed at an age group.

All Elite teams practice and play at FC Richmond's NORTH location in the Robious Rd/Huguenot Rd corridor.

 
Coaching
 
  • Licensed professional coaches with college/professional playing experience
  • Support from full-time Technical/Executive Director, Trip Ellis USSF A License; Director of Coaching, Trip Dunville USSF A License; Assistant Director of Coaching and Director of Goalkeeping, Mac Phillips USSF C License
Training
 
  • Individual conditioning program begins mid-July for two weeks prior to pre-season
  • Pre-season team conditioning program, four days per week, two to three weeks beginning in early August
  • Regular season training, three days per week (usually Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
  • Winter Training one to two times per week in Jan/Feb
  • Specialized goalkeeper specific training with Director of Goalkeeping
Competition
 
  • U11 - U19 FC Richmond Elite teams will play league play in the MLS NEXT New Competition Tier (U13-U19 boys) or in the VPSL NPL in 2025-2026. 
  • Participation in tournaments/college showcase events, depending upon age and team ability.
  • Extended travel within the US for selected teams including Florida for U13s and Arizona for U15s. International summer tours for selected teams and/or players.

  • Players commit to play for the entire soccer year: U11-U14 August thru May; U15-U19 August thru March
  • Players must be dedicated and strive for perfect attendance at all training sessions, scrimmages, games, and tournaments.
  • Players commit to follow all club rules and guidelines as presented in the player handbook.
  • FC Richmond players can play on their high school or middle school soccer teams.

U11-U14 Magic/Mystx Elite Navy Fees - $2970; U11-U14 Magic/Mystx Elite Sky Fees - $2500; U15-U19 Magic/Mystx Elite Navy Fees - $2770; U15-U19 Magic Elite Sky Fees - $2400 - See Travel Fees tab under Program Description for more information and payment options.
 
**Teams formed from mid-year supplemental tryouts will be half the posted fees.
 
Uniforms
 

2025-2026 is the first year of a two-year Magic/Mystx Elite uniform cycle. ALL Elite Navy and Sky players will need to purchase a new game uniform.

NEW AND RETURNING ELITE players approximate game and training uniform cost including training jacket: $300-$350 +tax and shipping

All Travel players are required to wear cleats that are 80% black in color. We believe cleats are part of the player's uniform and should look the same and professional.

MAGIC (Boys) AND MYSTX (Girls) CLASSIC

FC Richmond’s Classic teams train and play at a competitive level. Teams are formed from tryouts in April for the 2025-2026 soccer year that begins in August. A high priority is placed on technical proficiency, tactical awareness, and personal development. Players learn the values of discipline, commitment, and accountability.

This year our Classic teams will expand into our SOUTH location. The SOUTH teams practice and play primarily at Horner Park or other locations in SW Chesterfield County. The Classic South teams will mirror the Classic North teams with the only difference being the location.

Coaching

  • Licensed professional coaches with college/professional playing experience.
  • Support from full-time Technical/Executive Director, Trip Ellis USSF A License; Director of Coaching, Trip Dunville USSF A License; Director of Goalkeeping and Youth Development, Mac Phillips USSF C License

Training

  • Regular season training, two days per week

  • Specialized goalkeeper specific training with Directors of Goalkeeping

Competition

  • U11-U12 Classic teams play in the Advanced Development Soccer League (ADSL), a local league featuring Richmond based clubs.
  • U13-U19 Classic teams in 2025-2026 will play in the VPSL NPL.
  • Participation in 3-5 selected tournaments per year depending on age group.
  • Players evaluated and brought in to Magic and Mystx Elite training and/or games as appropriate.

Commitment

  • Players commit to play for the entire soccer year.
  • Players must be dedicated and strive for perfect attendance at all training sessions, scrimmages, games, and tournaments.
  • Players commit to follow all club rules and guidelines as presented in the player handbook.

U9 & U10 MAGIC (Boys) AND MYSTX (Girls) FUTURES NORTH AND SOUTH

FC Richmond's U9 & U10 Magic and Mystx Futures program is an introductory program designed to introduce and transition players to competitive soccer. U9 & U10 Magic and Mystx Futures players compete in the Advanced Development Soccer League (ADSL), a local league featuring Richmond based clubs. Training is specialized with a focus on agility soccer movements, ball mastery techniques, team building fundamentals and a variety of small sided games in a FUN, energetic environment.  Players will be selected from a tryout process in May for the 2025-2026 soccer year that begins in August. U9 Magic and Mystx Futures teams and U10 Magic and Mystx Futures teams will be formed from these tryouts.

CONTINUING IN 2025-2026 - ADDITIONAL FUTURES LOCATION

FC Richmond will continue to offer the Futures NORTH program and will be expanding the Futures SOUTH program.

The Futures NORTH program is similar to the current and past Futures program with the home location of the Robious Rd area (Greenfield Park, Huguenot Park, etc).

The Futures SOUTH program is the very same programming but the home location will be in the Moseley/SW Chesterfield area - mainly Horner Park (formerly Clover Hill Athletic Complex) located on Genito Rd just west of the intersection of Genito and Otterdale Rds. This location better serves players in the southwest area of the county and neighborhoods such as Brandermill, Woodlake, RounTrey & New Market, Fox Creek, Fox Fire, Summerlake, Westerleigh, and Magnolia Green. We are thrilled to be expanding into this fast growing area of Chesterfield County.

The Futures SOUTH program will practice and play home games primarily at Horner Park and surrounding areas.
